Alvarado.- La exalcaldesa de Alvarado, Sara Luz Herrera Cano, fue sentenciada a 20 años de prisión por ordenar el asesinato de su secretario particular, Michel Martínez Corro, cuyo cuerpo fue hallado en 2013.
Sara Luz fue presidenta de Alvarado durante el periodo 2011-2013 y fue detenida en 2014. Desde entonces, ha permanecido en el penal de La Toma, ubicado en el municipio de Amatlán.
