El cadáver del periodista fue encontrado en un terreno cercano al Aeropuerto Internacional Ponciano Arriaga, en San Luis Potosí. El cuerpo presentaba signos de tortura y ejecución. Édgar Esqueda había sido reportado como desaparecido el jueves, luego de que hombres llegaran a su domicilio y se lo llevaran por la fuerza.
